TOday im just completing my tv sets for GI. For MP stage, we didn't need to do detailed inspection as PP stage. By evening, we managed to finished 4 sets and returned all the sets to logistic.

Eight week - MP stage

Today is the MP stage. I need to borrow sets again just like before. At this stage, we still need to do GI but its not as detail as PP stage.

Sixth week - New Model

New Model began for phase 2. Today i borrowed 2 set of tv KDL 40HX800 (AUS). For each model produced, i need to borrow because i have to to Detail Inspection later on. My job as future engineer required me to do inspection for each tv. Normally the inspection will take about 3-4 days.
Actually there's two types of tv, KDL and KLV. KDL is digital and KLV is analog. In Malaysia we use analog.
For today inspection we found 1 n/g regarding twin picture. N/g stands for not good.

Labour Day

It's holiday today.. Labour day.. But for me, no holiday. It's time to do ot. Moreover, there's some work need to complete. Actually last week we got news that our office need to move. So by next week we need to clear all sets. I'm quite confused actually why must we move. Our supervisor Mr Hakki told that they want to add more production line. That's why they want us to move.
Today our activity is just unpacking 18 sets. This sets are actually drop sets which mean that the sets fall from container at logistic. All sets are aging for 2 days. Details are :-

Today we've finished aging 60 set KDL 60EX700 destination Hong Kong (HK). Glad because each sets don't have any problem. We packing all the sets back. Actually we want to return all the sets back at 6pm but the logistic department ask us to come at 8pm. This is due to the space limited. One more thing, we just can return 8 sets for a time, we need to wait for 15 minutes to return for the another set. We finished all the work at 10.30 pm. What a day... So tiredd

As usual, we started our morning with meeting at 8pm. Everyday with new input. Actually yesterday there's 2 more trial board set - KLV 32EX500. Total we got 6 set that need to do GI. Huh.. For the whole day Faris, Isaac and me trying to finish our sets. However 2 set's got problem with the white balance. When we do measurement by using JIG, the graph plotted out of actual range. Later we call TV Electrical member to fix the tv.

Week 3 - Transport Test

Last saturday, 85 sets of KDL 60 EX700 for destination HK ( Hong Kong ) has been undergone transport test. Today we did IMET test for 60 sets from the first container. At first we unpacked each sets and aging it in IMET room. 40 sets are aging for 1 day. Others 20 sets are just on off and knock test.
The procedure are
1) unpacking sets
2) put ac cord
3) on tv set
4) knock with dummy hand at the back of tv
5) on off tv minimum ten times
6) packing
On the evening, i did GI for 4 sets of trial panel. All the 4 sets are for destination ME, Middle East.

Week 2 - i love GI
It has been a week since i entered SOEM for industrial training. I met with new friends and entered the real life of work.

Today we start our morning with meeting as usual. After that i learn about TV Inspection for 60 inch TV. We learned about color, signal, sound balance and many more. At first i was quite blur about all this. We need to check all the function and also do some measurement for TV inspection. There's 16 channel that we need to know in order to do the inspection. We just learn on the basic info.

That's not so much work today. Gemba... hoho.. Gemba = jalan2.. i don't know the correct word. That's the word that all staff or people in SOEM used. I took a walk around production line and learn about TV production. Im really suprised with how the production running. From the small board until a TV set. It start with panel, board, bezel, stand assy and many more.

my first week at Sony
6th April 2010
Hari ini merupakan hari kedua di Sony. Aktiviti pada sebelah pagi ialah program induksi. Seawal jam 8 pagi lagi kami berkumpul di bilik mesyuarat. Terdapat beberapa sesi antaranya adalah taklimat mengenai keselamatan dan kesihatan, disiplin pekerja, hak sebagai pekerja dan juga taklimat mengenai waktu kerja.
Pada sebelah petangnya kami kembali ke department masing-masing. Saya dan rakan-rakan yang lain berkumpul di bilik mesyuarat TVQR. Sebelum itu saya ingin memperkenalkan rakan-rakan UNITEN yang turut bersama saya iaitu Azree, Faris, Epul, Mijie, Syafiq, Min, Siva, Brian, Chong dan Isaac. Syafiq dan Mim awal-awal lagi telah dipecahkan kepada kumpulan lain. Mereka berada di dalam bahagian Safety. Kami masih tidak dipecahkan kepada kumpulan kecil.
Petang itu kami dibawa oleh En. Yahya ke Sony Bangi Logistic. Tugas pertama kami adalah 'rework'. Pada mulanya saya tidak tahu apa itu rework. Kami diberitahu bahawa terdapat hampir 2000 set TV model 32 inci Thailand yang perlu di tukar label. Kami turut sama membantu mereka untuk menukar label TV tersebut. Walaupun tugas itu bunyi agak mudah, namun prosedurnya agak rumit. Cara pengendalian perlulah mengikut SOP( Standard Of Procedure). Label TV itu hanya mempunyai masalah kesalahan satu ejaan namun ia perlu juga ditukar. Ini menunjukkan betapa tingginya kualiti yang dijaga oleh Sony. Hanya kerana satu kesalahan ejaan, hampir 2000 set TV perlu ditukar kembali labelnya.

Before the meeting start, everybody need to do some exercise. The meeting normally will discuss about the latest problem found, new updates and many more.In the end of the meeting, all the new trainees need to introduce themselves in front of all the members. Our department basically divided into two others group, Quality Control ( QC) and Reliability Engineering (RE).
We met with senior trainee from UTEM, UNIMAP and others. We still blur because there's not so much work to do. Normally when new model comes, that's the time that everybody will start to work. At 10am, we went to production line since there's some rework. There's about 80 sets of tv need to rework due to sound problem.

I woke up at 5am since we need to go to shah alam logistic. Before this our shift type is S0, but today is C1. I need to punch in before 6.15am . There will be rework for the whole day at shah alam. We went there by bus.
At first, i dont know the place. Actually SOEM rent JVC Manufacturing Sdn Bhd place to store all their TV set. TASCO which was also known as Trans Asia Shipping Corp Sdn Bhd is the company that run the store or logistic.
Basically today we just rework about more than 300 sets TV for Thailand destination due to wrong sticker.

my first day at sony
5th April 2010 is the industrial training registration day at sony. It seems like too early because before that i had my final exam on 3rd April 2010. I wish that i can have extra day. I woke up around 6.30 am and prepare for the registration. I went to Sony EMCS Bangi and arrived around 7.55 am. I meet with my few members from UNITEN which are also undergone industrial training at Sony.
Kami ditempatkan di sebuah bilik mesyuarat. Terdapat lebih kurang 50 orang pelatih baru dari pelbagai ipt. Antaranya adalah UNITEN, UKM, UMP dan UTM. Namun majoritinya adalah dari Uniten. Pagi itu kami dikehendaki mengisi borang pendaftaran dan menghantar beberapa dokumen lain. Kami juga diberikan kasut, vest dan id card Sony. Selepas itu kami dipecahkan mengikut bahagian masing-masing. Saya ditugaskan untuk bersama department TVQR.
Sebelum itu, terdapat beberapa info yang ingin saya kongsi berkenaan SONY EMCS Bangi ini. SONY EMCS juga dikenali sebagai SOEM. EMCS merupakan singkatan bagi Engineering Manufacturing Customer Service. SOEM merupakan pengeluar antara pengeluar TV terbesar di dunia. Terdapat dua kilang utama untuk TV iaitu di Japan dan juga Bangi, Malaysia. Pada mulanya saya juga tidak pernah mengetahui semua ini, namun ia merupakan sesuatu yang harus dibanggakan kerana kita mampu menjadi pengeluat utama kepada negara lain seperti Thailand, Singapura,Hong Kong, Rusia, Australia, New Zealand,India, Middle East dan lain-lain.
Berbalik kepada TVQR. TVQR merupakan singkatan bagi TV Quality Reliability. TVQR juga dikenali dengan nama TVQA iaitu TV Quality Assurance. Terdapat 11 orang pelatih baru termasuk saya bersama TVQR.
Pada sebelah petangnya kami diberikan taklimat untuk menggunakan 'Punch Card Machine' dan PESONA. PESONA boleh digunakan untuk memohon cuti, menyemak kehadiran dan sebagainya.Selepas itu kami dibawa ke department masing-masing. Saya berkesempatan untuk berkenalan bersama supervisor iaitu En. Hakki dan juga Manager TVQR iaitu En. Izham. Memandangkan masa agak singkat, tidak banyak yang dapat kami perolehi. Apa pun, esok masih ada..
Kami ditempatkan di sebuah bilik mesyuarat. Terdapat lebih kurang 50 orang pelatih baru dari pelbagai ipt. Antaranya adalah UNITEN, UKM, UMP dan UTM. Namun majoritinya adalah dari Uniten. Pagi itu kami dikehendaki mengisi borang pendaftaran dan menghantar beberapa dokumen lain. Kami juga diberikan kasut, vest dan id card Sony. Selepas itu kami dipecahkan mengikut bahagian masing-masing. Saya ditugaskan untuk bersama department TVQR.
Sebelum itu, terdapat beberapa info yang ingin saya kongsi berkenaan SONY EMCS Bangi ini. SONY EMCS juga dikenali sebagai SOEM. EMCS merupakan singkatan bagi Engineering Manufacturing Customer Service. SOEM merupakan pengeluar antara pengeluar TV terbesar di dunia. Terdapat dua kilang utama untuk TV iaitu di Japan dan juga Bangi, Malaysia. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING 09/10
Assalamualaikum and hello all.
To start with this blog, i would like to introduce myself. My name is Mohd Arif Fahmi Bin Yahya. I'm currently a third year student of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in Universiti Tenaga Nasional ( UNITEN) . In order to complete on my course, our requirement need us to undergone an industrial training. Our Industrial Training period is from 5th April 2010 until 25th June 2010.
